Netflix Christmas Movies 2024

Netflix has observed an impressive start to the holiday season with two of its newly released Christmas films spearheading the platform’s most-watched charts. The growing popularity of these festive movies, starring renowned actors from the early 2000s and the acclaimed ‘Queen of Christmas’ from Hallmark, is driving high viewership numbers.

‘Meet Me Next Christmas,’ a romantic comedy featuring Christina Milian and Devale Ellis, premiered on November 6 and immediately garnered significant attention, achieving 18.1 million views within its initial five days. The film continued its success into the second week from November 11 to 17 with 11.8 million views, although it was surpassed by ‘Hot Frosty,’ which attracted 16 million viewers over the same period.

‘Hot Frosty’ launched on November 13, stands out with its enchanting narrative involving a magical snowman coming to life to court a widow, portrayed by Lacey Chabert. The cast also includes TV favorites Dustin Milligan of ‘Schitt’s Creek’ fame and Craig Robinson from ‘The Office.’ The unusual plot generated a buzz on social media, leading to widespread discussions and interest.

Next on the release roster was ‘The Merry Gentlemen,’ featuring Chad Michael Murray and released on November 20. The film quickly became another crowd favorite on Netflix, once again pushing ‘Hot Frosty’ further down the list of top views on the platform.

Fan engagement on TikTok and other platforms has further heightened the appeal of these movies, with notable figures posting about their immersive viewing experiences. Rotten Tomatoes scores suggest a generally positive reception, with ‘Hot Frosty’ securing an 82% rating, while ‘Meet Me Next Christmas’ received a 69%.

Upcoming releases include ‘Our Little Secret,’ set to air on November 27, and ‘That Christmas,’ an animation due on December 4. Taron Egerton will star in ‘Carry-On,’ a thriller releasing on December 13, adding to Netflix’s diverse holiday selection.

Other holiday-oriented productions, including TV shows and specials, are slated for release as well. ‘A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter,’ a musical special, will debut on December 6, along with seasonal editions of popular baking shows slated for release in late November and December. Additionally, Keira Knightley will headline a series ‘Black Doves,’ premiering on December 5.

Meanwhile, Hallmark Channel maintains a significant presence in the holiday entertainment sector. The channel, which commenced its seasonal offerings in October, ranked as the third most-popular in primetime and overall viewership from November 11 to 17, according to Nielsen data, underscoring the enduring appeal of seasonal films.
