New Appointments for Nigeria’s Intelligence Agencies
President Bola Tinubu has officially announced the appointment of Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi as the new Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS).
This announcement was made on Monday by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.
Ajayi takes over from Yusuf Magaji Bichi, who previously held the position since his appointment by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2018.
Ajayi, who has a long history with the security service, has risen through the ranks to currently serve as the Assistant Director-General. Throughout his career, he has held various important positions, including as State Director in locations such as Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi.
The new appointments come in the wake of the recent resignation of the previous heads of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and DSS.
Alongside Ajayi, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed has been appointed as the new Director-General of the NIA. President Tinubu urges both new leaders to work diligently to enhance the capabilities and effectiveness of their respective agencies.
President Tinubu expressed gratitude to the outgoing Directors-General for their service and wished them success in their future endeavors.
