New England Patriots’ Struggles Puts Player Selections in Doubt for Fantasy Football Owners
The New England Patriots have encountered significant challenges throughout the current football season, with their overall performance painting a stark picture. They have recorded a disappointing 3-8 standing after the first 11 weeks, placing them among the lowest-ranking teams in the league. The shift from veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett to rookie first-round pick Drake Maye has brought some hope, albeit with limited success in translating that into victories. Despite providing a spark, Maye’s leadership on the field has only resulted in one win where he played a majority of the snaps.
With few reasons for optimism, fans have turned their attention to select performances, notably those exhibited by running back Rhamondre Stevenson. His displays of dominance, however, have been sporadic. Entering Week 12, fantasy football owners considering including players from New England face a challenging decision, given the team’s current form and inconsistency.
Drake Maye, while offering excitement to spectators, has not managed to deliver outstanding statistics. Over five complete games, Maye has averaged 17.17 fantasy points. This figure places him below the threshold required for many fantasy leagues. His challenge intensifies as he prepares to face the Miami Dolphins, a team whose defense ranks impressively, having allowed the third-fewest fantasy points (12.3) per game to opposing quarterbacks. This defensive strength could further limit Maye’s potential impact in Week 12.
Meanwhile, Rhamondre Stevenson faced considerable expectations, following a substantial contract extension during the offseason. However, his performance has been markedly inconsistent. Of the 10 games he’s participated in, Stevenson failed to exceed 10 points on four occasions, positioning him precariously as a fringe starting option in fantasy leagues. Although the Dolphins’ defense has conceded the ninth-most fantasy points (19.9) to opposing running backs this season, Stevenson’s lack of consistent output suggests caution for fantasy owners who might want to rely on him this week.
