New HBO Series ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ Begins Production in Belfast

Production has officially started in Belfast, Northern Ireland on the highly anticipated HBO original drama series ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.’ The series is an adaptation of George R.R. Martin‘s novella ‘The Hedge Knight.’

The ensemble cast sees the addition of talented actors including Finn Bennett from ‘True Detective: Night Country’, Bertie Carvel known for his role in ‘The Crown,’ Tanzyn Crawford from ‘Tiny Beautiful Things’, Daniel Ings of ‘Sex Education’ fame, and Sam Spruell recognized for his work in ‘Fargo.’

The directing duties for Season 1 of ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ will be shared between Sarah Adina Smith, known for ‘Lessons In Chemistry’ and ‘Hanna’, who will helm three episodes, and executive producer Owen Harris who will direct the remaining three episodes.

Based on George R.R. Martin’s novella ‘The Hedge Knight,’ the narrative of the first season will follow the adventures of the valiant knight Ser Duncan the Tall, played by Peter Claffey, and his youthful squire, Egg, portrayed by Dexter Sol Ansell. Set roughly a century before the events of ‘Game of Thrones’, the series will delve into encounters with notable members of the Targaryen dynasty including Prince Aerion Targaryen, Prince Baelor Targaryen, and Prince Maekar Targaryen, along with other prominent characters like Ser Lyonel Baratheon and Tanselle.

‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ is both scripted and executive produced by the legendary George R.R. Martin alongside Ira Parker. The executive producing team includes Ryan Condal, Vince Gerardis, Owen Harris, and Sarah Bradshaw, bringing their expertise to this highly anticipated production.
