New Leadership Announced for One Region Economic Development Group
One Region, a collaborative effort between the Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments (BCDCOG), Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, and Charleston Regional Development Alliance, has revealed new leadership appointments and strategic initiatives following its recent Advisory Committee meeting.
Col. (retired) Marc Greene, previous commander of Joint Base Charleston, has been appointed as the new board chair of One Region following confirmation by the Advisory Committee. Greene expressed his commitment to advancing the ongoing work and fostering economic prosperity for the wider Charleston community.
The focus of One Region is on executing the One Region Roadmap: ‘Opportunities for All – Economic Recovery and Resilience Plan,’ which was formulated as the region emerged from the challenges brought by COVID-19. This plan is structured around eight Regional Dynamics, divided into two overarching categories: Themes & Action Areas, with a strong emphasis on Equity and Economic Momentum integrated throughout the strategies.
The organizations designated as lead agents for Regional Dynamics include the Riley Center, which will take the helm in the Quality of Place domain. Kendra Stewart, director of the Riley Center, expressed enthusiasm in serving as the Lead Agent for this vital aspect, highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts to uphold and enhance the region’s quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
