Families in North Vancouver are in for some exciting news as construction kicks off for an expansion at Lynn Valley Elementary school. This project will add 145 more student spaces, making room for the growing number of kids in the area.

Rachna Singh, the Minister of Education and Child Care, expressed pride in this development. She emphasized that as communities like North Vancouver grow, it’s essential for the government to invest in building and expanding schools to meet the needs of families.

With more than $9 million provided by the Province, the expansion will include six new classrooms. This means that four portable classrooms currently in use will be eliminated, providing a more stable learning environment for students.

MLA for North Vancouver-Seymour, Susie Chant, shared her excitement about this expansion, highlighting that it will enhance safety and modernization for students and staff alike. She noted that Lynn Valley is a fantastic place to live, and the government is committed to supporting families with necessary services in the community.

This initiative is part of a larger plan, with over $172 million invested in the last seven years to upgrade and expand schools in North Vancouver. Other related projects include funding for a new Cloverley Elementary school and seismic upgrades at Mountainside Secondary.

Linda Munro, the chair of the North Vancouver Board of Education, indicated that adding capacity for the growing student population is a top priority. She is pleased that the ministry acknowledges the importance of providing modern, healthy, and safe learning environments that foster a sense of belonging and community for students.
