NHS Staff Honoured in King’s Birthday Honours List
Several NHS staff members, including paramedics, nurses, and doctors, have been recognized in the 2024 King’s Birthday Honours list, released on Friday 14 June. The head of the NHS, Amanda Pritchard, expressed her gratitude for the dedication and expertise of these healthcare professionals.
Among the honourees is David Dean, a Senior Paramedic Mentor at East of England Ambulance Service, who has been awarded the King’s Ambulance Service Medal for Distinguished Service. Another recipient of this prestigious honour is Ola Adel Zahran, Chief Technology Officer at Yorkshire Ambulance Service.
Professor Janice Sigsworth CBE, the Chief Nurse at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, has been bestowed with a damehood for her exceptional services to nursing, particularly for her significant role in integrating genomics into nursing and midwifery practices.
Richard Douglas CB, the Chair of the NHS South East London Integrated Care Board, has been knighted in recognition of his contributions to the NHS in the South East region. Additionally, Professor Laura Serrant OBE, the Chair of Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, has been awarded a CBE for her outstanding services to nursing in the North East and Yorkshire.
Joanne Fitzgerald, a Senior Programme Manager at NHS England, has received an MBE for her remarkable services to the NHS and her advocacy work for individuals with lived experience. Amanda Pritchard, the NHS Chief Executive, commended the honourees for their exceptional skills and dedication, emphasizing the diverse expertise present within the health service.
