In Cleveland, Ohio, expectations are high as Nick Chubb prepares to face the Pittsburgh Steelers for the first time since suffering a severe knee injury against them last season. However, according to sources close to Chubb, emotional displays are unlikely from the Cleveland Browns’ star running back.

Myles Garrett, the Browns’ pass rusher, commented on Chubb’s demeanor, noting, «Nick’s not very emotional in general.» Similarly, left guard Joel Bitonio remarked, «He’s so calm about it and so straightforward that you don’t even realize what he came back from.»

Despite the gravity of the previous injury, head coach Kevin Stefanski believes the upcoming game holds no special significance for Chubb beyond the usual competition. «He’s focused. He wants to help us win any which way. He wants to do his job,» Stefanski said.

The injury occurred during a game at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, triggered by an unfortunate collision with Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. It was severe enough that major network broadcasts chose not to show replays. Chubb had previously injured the same knee during his college football career at Georgia.

Chubb returned to the field this season after two surgeries and 13 months of recovery. Yet, speaking about the forthcoming matchup, Chubb maintained, «It’s just the same normal game for me, pushing the same way and looking forward to playing against a great team.»

Garrett noted, «When he gets out there, it could be different,» but emphasized that Chubb remains «cool as a cucumber, as he always is.» After his return against the Cincinnati Bengals, Chubb has played four games and recorded 163 rushing yards.

In recent performance updates, Chubb had 11 carries for 50 yards in a game against the New Orleans Saints, showing signs of his strong run game but also dealing with a reduced workload in preparation for a Thursday night game against Pittsburgh. Stefanski indicated that the quick turnaround between games was a consideration.

As the Browns confront a Steelers team skilled in defensive plays, ranked fifth in rushing defense at 4.05 yards allowed per play, Chubb hopes to continue his historical success against them. Over past encounters, he has rushed for 717 yards across ten games, achieving notable performances.

Jameis Winston, the starting quarterback, praised Chubb, saying, «He’s the epitome of a running back, ground and pound, and he can do some stuff out of the backfield.» He added to Chubb’s character, mentioning his strong family ties and personal resilience.

With snow predicted, both teams are likely to emphasize ground plays. Chubb, for his part, declared, «It should always be running weather.» No matter the circumstances, his objective remains unchanged: «I mean it’s a football game. I got to go out there and play, so no matter who we’re playing or what we’re up against, I’m always in the same mindset.»
