Nick Foles Retires as a Philadelphia Eagle
Former NFL quarterback Nick Foles has officially announced his retirement, and he’s doing it as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Foles, who enjoyed an impressive 11-year career in the NFL, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to retire with the team he started with back in 2012. In a heartfelt message, he said, «I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to retire as a Philadelphia Eagle. The City of Brotherly Love has always felt like home to me as an NFL player.»
Foles is best known for his remarkable performance during the Eagles’ triumphant run in Super Bowl LII, where he led the team to a stunning victory against the New England Patriots. Not only did he throw for three touchdowns, but he also caught one himself in the famous ‘Philly Special’ play, making him a memorable figure in Eagles history.
His achievements have not gone unnoticed. Jeffrey Lurie, the chairman and CEO of the Philadelphia Eagles, praised Foles for his class, integrity, and competitiveness. Lurie highlighted the impact Foles had both on and off the field, calling him a true representative of the city.
Fans will have a chance to celebrate Foles’ legacy at the Eagles’ home opener on September 16 against the Atlanta Falcons.
Throughout his career, Foles earned numerous accolades, including being named Pro Bowl MVP after a season in which he recorded a remarkable touchdown-to-interception ratio. He was one of the players to throw seven touchdown passes in a single game, a feat that puts him in the spotlight among some of the greats in football.
