Nick Saban Warns Texas A&M Ahead of Auburn Clash at Jordan-Hare Stadium
During a recent broadcast of ESPN‘s «College GameDay,» retired football coach Nick Saban offered a unique perspective on playing at Auburn University’s Jordan-Hare Stadium, notably referencing it as a «haunted» venue. The comments were made as the sports analyst discussed the upcoming Southeastern Conference showdown between Auburn and their visitors, Texas A&M.
«Well, I would be alerting Texas A&M,» Saban said, «because, in my opinion, 17 years going to Auburn and playing at Jordan-Hare [Stadium], that place is haunted. I guarantee it.» The former Alabama coach mentioned several inexplicable moments during his tenure, including the famous «Kick Six» game.
The «Kick Six» refers to a particularly memorable event during the 2013 Iron Bowl, where Auburn’s Chris Davis returned a missed field goal 109 yards for a touchdown, clinching a dramatic victory over Alabama. Such unexpected moments have been a hallmark of the intense rivalry between the Crimson Tide and the Auburn Tigers, often resulting in surprising finishes.
Saban’s career record in the Iron Bowl stands at 12-5, highlighting his proficiency in securing victories in the historic college football rivalry. However, playing on Auburn’s home turf has proven challenging. Under Saban’s leadership, Alabama’s record at Jordan-Hare Stadium was 5-4.
The stakes are high for Texas A&M as they aim to keep their playoff aspirations intact during their visit to Auburn. Meanwhile, the next installment of the Iron Bowl is slated for November 30, to be held at Alabama’s Bryant-Denny Stadium. The rivalry is scheduled to return to Jordan-Hare in 2025.
