Nigerian Air Force Airstrike

Soldiers under Operation Hadin Kai have achieved significant success in their ongoing fight against terrorism in the North East of Nigeria. Recent airstrikes conducted by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) resulted in the elimination of at least five key terrorist commanders and a total of 35 fighters in Borno State.

The operations were publicized by Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, who announced the developments during a press briefing in Abuja. The airstrikes, executed on August 16, targeted suspected terrorist enclaves in the Arina area of Southern Tumbuns, Borno State, based on intelligence indicating that militants had relocated to the area.

Gabkwet identified the commanders killed in the airstrikes as Munzir Arika, Sani Dilla (Dan Hausawan Jubillaram), Ameer Modu, Dan Fulani Fari Fari, and Bakoura Arina Chiki. He stated that the operation’s success was due to thorough intelligence gathering, including reconnaissance missions conducted on August 12 and 15 that identified various terrorist structures in the area.

Following the airstrikes, a battle damage assessment revealed that not only were the commanders neutralized, but several pieces of equipment, including vehicles and a suspected medical dispensary, were destroyed. Gabkwet emphasized that these coordinated actions have significantly weakened the capabilities of the remaining terrorist groups operating in the region.

In a separate yet related incident, reports emerged concerning a terrorist attack in Niger State, where many artisanal miners were reportedly killed while at work. These miners reportedly came from the Kuta IDP camp in search of food and financial assistance.

The recent attack on miners in Niger State has raised alarm, as local residents reported that bandits engaged the miners during their activities. The casualty figures from this incident remain unclear, but local sources indicated at least ten deaths, further showcasing the ongoing security challenges in the region.

Amidst this violence, the acting governor of Niger State, Yakubu Garba, condemned the attack, describing it as a horrific act against humanity. He extended condolences to the affected families and reiterated the state’s commitment to addressing insecurity and violence in the region.

As the Nigerian Air Force continues its operations against terrorism in Borno State, other regions like Plateau State also face ongoing security challenges, demonstrating the widespread nature of the conflict and the need for sustained military and community efforts to restore peace.
