Nikhil Kamath recently invited Bollywood superstar Ranbir Kapoor to join him for a chat on his podcast, People by WTF. Right off the bat, the duo dove into discussing their lives and work, setting a friendly and relaxed tone.
During their conversation, Nikhil shared insights about his life journey, starting from his birthplace, Shivamogga. He recalled how his father’s job led the family to move around every few years, which took him to places like Hassan and Carnal in Haryana before settling in Bengaluru when he was just six years old.
Nikhil expressed his deep affection for Bengaluru, stating, «From the age of 7 till 37, I’ve been pretty much a Bangalore boy. I have immense love for the city, which has in a way given me everything.» He emphasized that the love he feels for Bengaluru is mutual, highlighting the city’s unique vibe compared to Mumbai.
He elaborated that while people often talk about Mumbai being fast-paced, Bengaluru possesses a distinct «soul» that sets it apart. He encouraged Ranbir to experience the city firsthand, saying, «You have to be there to experience it.»
Nikhil also shared his thoughts on the people of Bengaluru, noting that they’re not only friendly but also have a strong connection with their city. He said, «The big, big differentiator is the people of Bengaluru are second to none because of the love they have for the city.»
In a light-hearted comparison, he mentioned how other cities like Hyderabad are known for biryani, Mumbai for its glamorous crowd, and Delhi for its wealthy residents, but Bengaluru should be celebrated for its nice people.
