Notre Dame Navigates Complex 2025 Recruiting Landscape
As the 2025 recruiting cycle continues to progress, Notre Dame has experienced significant shifts in its recruitment efforts. Notable successes include securing top targets such as Dallas Golden, JaDon Blair, and Will Black. However, challenges have also arisen, including the departures of prospects like Deuce Knight and Ivan Taylor, who have opted to commit elsewhere.
In recent developments, three notable athletes—Antavious Richardson, Nolan James Jr., and Cameron Herron—have switched their commitments to Notre Dame. The coaching staff, led by Head Coach Marcus Freeman, is reportedly looking to add three or four more recruits to their roster before finalizing the 2025 class, particularly focusing on key position groups.
At the running back position, Notre Dame has seen changes, parting ways with original commits Justin Thurman and Daniel Anderson. Subsequently, Nolan James Jr. was recruited from Boston College, but the Fighting Irish are reportedly pursuing additional talent for this role. Potential targets are emerging, with previous interest shown in Clemson‘s Gideon Davidson. Analysts suggest Notre Dame may intensify recruitment efforts should they achieve success in forthcoming playoff games.
On the wide receiver front, LSU commit Derek Meadows remains a focal point. As LSU experiences a losing streak, and with Meadows taking visits to other schools, the possibility of securing Meadows is reportedly gaining traction. It is rumored that Notre Dame narrowly missed securing his commitment earlier this year, suggesting the Fighting Irish have a viable chance of attracting him.
The coaching staff is also significantly invested in flipping Florida defensive line commit Jalen Wiggins. Described as a «Notre Dame kid» and playing a critical interior lineman role, Wiggins recently visited South Bend and expressed positive impressions post-visit. Speculation surrounds his potential departure from the Gators, positioning Notre Dame as a strong contender.
Tight end Andrew Olesh, currently committed to Notre Dame’s rival Michigan, has also attracted interest. His recent visit for the Florida State game has reportedly heightened his interest in Notre Dame, although Oregon remains a considerable factor if Olesh reconsiders his commitment. The outcome of this pursuit is uncertain, but optimism persists within the coaching staff as they aim to add these key players to their 2025 roster.
