Novak Djokovic Advances to Third Round of U.S. Open
Novak Djokovic, the celebrated tennis player and 24-time Grand Slam champion, showcased his skills in the second round of the U.S. Open on Wednesday evening, amidst a competitive match against compatriot Laslo Djere.
Prior to the match, Djokovic shared insight into his pre-match routine, which included warming up and strategizing with his coaches. He humorously referred to himself as ‘Demurekovic’ while emphasizing his focus on mindfulness and preparation.
During the match, Djokovic initially struggled, especially with his serve, highlighting the challenges he faced on the court. He acknowledged that his performance was not at its peak, particularly in the second set, which could have shifted the outcome had Djere not retired due to injury.
Djokovic ultimately secured the victory when Djere retired with the score at 6-4, 6-4, 2-0, marking Djokovic’s 90th win at the U.S. Open, making him the first male player to achieve this milestone across all four Grand Slam events.
Looking ahead, Djokovic stated his awareness that matches would become increasingly difficult, expressing confidence in his ability to continue performing well as he progresses through the tournament.
