Nuri Sahin Appointed as Borussia Dortmund Head Coach Following Terzic’s Resignation
Borussia Dortmund have announced the appointment of Nuri Sahin as their new head coach, succeeding Edin Terzic who resigned unexpectedly after guiding the team to the UEFA Champions League final.
Sahin, a former player of over 250 appearances for Borussia Dortmund and a product of the club’s academy, returned to the team earlier this year to join Terzic’s coaching staff. He has now signed a three-year deal with the club until June 2027.
In a statement, Sahin expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, stating his eagerness to take on the challenge at BVB with passion and dedication from day one.
Nuri Sahin has a strong connection with Borussia Dortmund, having won the Bundesliga title under coach Lucien Favre and played for top clubs like Real Madrid and Liverpool during his career. His coaching experience includes a tenure at Antalyaspor before joining Dortmund’s coaching staff.
The club’s sporting director, Zoran Mamic, highlighted Sahin’s contribution to Dortmund’s recent success, particularly their journey to the Champions League final. Mamic believes Sahin’s leadership qualities and familiarity with the team will be instrumental in their future endeavors.
Preparations for the upcoming season, which includes a training camp and friendly matches, are already underway for Borussia Dortmund. The team is scheduled to face Phönix Lübeck in a preseason friendly before kicking off their Bundesliga campaign in pursuit of their first league title since 2012.
The Bundesliga fixture list for the new season will be revealed on July 4, setting the stage for Nuri Sahin’s first full season in charge as Borussia Dortmund head coach.
