Ofcom Drops Investigation Into Dan Wootton’s Claims
An investigation into the claims made by journalist Dan Wootton during an episode of his GB News show has come to an end. This investigation was by Ofcom, the media regulator, and focused on comments he made back in July 2023.

During that episode, Wootton claimed he was falsely accused of using a fake name and offering his colleagues money for explicit content. He strongly denied those claims, though he admitted to having made some ‘errors of judgment’ in the past.
n
In February, both the Metropolitan Police and Police Scotland confirmed they had looked into allegations against Wootton but decided to take no further action, indicating that no arrests were made throughout the investigation.
n
Wootton left GB News in March after Ofcom ruled another episode of his show violated broadcast guidelines. This ruling followed controversial remarks made by actor Laurence Fox about female journalist Ava Evans.
n
Fox’s comments were met with a flood of complaints, with people describing them as ‘clearly and unambiguously misogynistic.’ While no immediate apologies were issued during the broadcast, both Fox and Wootton later expressed regret over the incident.

After leaving GB News, Wootton has stated that he feels he was part of a ‘witch hunt’ aimed at damaging his career in mainstream media. He has since announced plans to start his own independent platform, expressing happiness with his current situation.
