The Offspring Adds New Members and Prepares to Release Eleventh Album
The Offspring, the punk rock band from Garden Grove, Orange County, is celebrating the 30th anniversary of their iconic album Smash and gearing up to release their eleventh album, Supercharged, with new members joining the lineup.
Brandon Pertzborn, the young drummer, and Jonah Nimoy, the versatile guitarist and grandson of Leonard Nimoy, have officially become part of the band alongside Bryan ‘Dexter’ Holland, Kevin ‘Noodles’ Wasserman, and Todd Morse.
Brandon, born in 1994, not even being born when Smash was released in April of the same year, was inspired to take up drumming after hearing the band’s track Hammerhead. His impressive resume includes bands like Black Flag, Ho99o9, Limp Bizkit, Suicidal Tendencies, Doyle, and Marilyn Manson.
Jonah Nimoy, known for playing multiple instruments and providing backing vocals for Dexter, has been touring with the band since 2019. Todd Morse, who also played with H20 alongside Juliette Lewis, has been a member for 16 years, making him one of the veterans alongside Noodles and Dexter.
Supercharged, the upcoming album, has been in the works since the release of Let The Bad Times Roll in 2021. The album will feature a mix of pop-influenced tracks like Make It Alright and heavier tunes such as Come to Brazil, which leans towards thrash metal.
The band unintentionally drew comparisons to Metallica‘s Ride the Lightning album with Supercharged’s cover art, inspired by Smash’s 30th-anniversary theme featuring a skeletal figure being struck by lightning.
The Offspring recently performed Smash in its entirety at the Honda Center in Anaheim, a nostalgic experience for the band as they reflected on how the album’s massive success transformed their lives and established their career.
In addition to their appearances at festivals like the FEQ and Riot Fest in Chicago, The Offspring shows no signs of slowing down, with plans to keep making music and entertaining fans for the foreseeable future.
