Drivers using the M56 around Manchester Airport are advised to plan ahead for upcoming overnight closures affecting both directions.

The closures, scheduled for Monday, May 20 and Tuesday, May 21, will impact three lanes in each direction between junction 6, Hale Four Seasons, and junction 7, Bowden.

During these nights, full closures of the carriageways will occur at specific sections between 10pm and 5am the following morning.

Additionally, the entry slip road at junction six will also be closed on both evenings.

National Highways will be conducting work to install a lighting column and perform drainage surveys along this stretch.

Project manager, Sajjad Ali, stressed the importance of planning ahead and allowing extra travel time for those passing through the affected area.

He also advised drivers to follow signed diversions during full closures, cautioning against relying solely on GPS navigation.

Weather-permitting, the work will proceed as scheduled, with updates available on the National Highways website and their Twitter feed, @HighwaysNWEST.

Drivers can also reach the National Highways customer contact center at 0300 123 5000 or via email for any inquiries.
