Panthers Tight End Ja’Tavion Sanders Suffers Concussion During Game Against Chiefs
Panthers tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders experienced a concerning moment on the field during Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The incident occurred late in the second quarter after Sanders caught a pass and was advancing down the sideline. He was hit low and flipped out of bounds, leading to a fall where he landed on his head.
Medical teams promptly attended to Sanders as he lay on the sideline. He remained on the ground while medical personnel took the necessary precautions, eventually stabilizing him on a backboard before transporting him off the field via cart. Reporters noted that Sanders gave a reassuring thumbs up to the crowd as he was taken away.
Sanders, a rookie drafted in the fourth round from Texas, entered the game with a total of 26 receptions, accumulating 253 yards and one touchdown for the season. During Sunday’s game, prior to his injury, he had successfully caught three passes resulting in 49 yards.
Panthers head coach Dave Canales provided an update shortly after halftime, as broadcasted on CBS. Canales reported that Sanders had movement in all his extremities but was continuing to undergo evaluation. Sanders was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where he was diagnosed with a concussion.
