Parker McCollum Celebrates CMA Nomination for Song of the Year
Parker McCollum, a renowned singer-songwriter, expressed his excitement regarding his nomination for the CMA Song of the Year at the 2024 CMA Awards. In an interview with ABC Audio, McCollum shared his thoughts, underscoring the significance of being recognized for his songwriting abilities. «That’s as good as it gets for me and that’s really the one award I think that carries a bunch of weight for me just as a songwriter, because it is about the songwriting,» stated McCollum.
He elaborated on his journey, emphasizing the importance of the nomination. «Just the nomination for me is plenty,» he said. McCollum also spoke about his collaboration with acclaimed songwriters Lori McKenna, Liz Rose, and Hillary Lindsey, often referred to collectively as The Love Junkies. He described them as «basically family» and mentioned their frequent visits to his home and ranch in Texas to write music together.
Although McCollum considers the nomination itself to be a significant achievement, he acknowledged that winning would be particularly rewarding. «It would be the one award that really made me feel like a real songwriter. Just the fact that something as big as the CMAs thought something that I was a part of writing deserved any kind of attention at all,» he remarked.
Other nominated tracks in the Song of the Year category include «I Had Some Help» by Post Malone and Morgan Wallen, «White Horse» by Chris Stapleton, as well as Cody Johnson‘s «The Painter» and «Dirt Cheap.»
The 2024 CMA Awards, hosted by Luke Bryan, Lainey Wilson, and Peyton Manning, is set to air live from Nashville‘s Bridgestone Arena. The event will be broadcast on ABC at 8 p.m. Eastern Time and will be available for streaming the following day on Hulu.
