MK Party Granted Rights to Use uMkhonto we Sizwe Name and Logo
The Durban High Court has ruled in favor of the MK party in the trademark battle over the use of the uMkhonto we Sizwe name and logo, dismissing the ANC‘s claims.
In a landmark decision, the court criticized the ANC for not opposing the registration of the name and logo earlier, paving the way for the MK party to continue using them.
The ANC argued that the name belonged to its military wing, uMkhonto we Sizwe, but the court disagreed, stating that legal ownership was not established.
The MK party, a rising political rival to the ANC, has gained momentum, especially in KwaZulu-Natal, ahead of the upcoming elections.
