Paul Nicholas Surprises Fans with His Transformation on This Morning
Paul Nicholas left viewers of This Morning in shock as he appeared looking very different from his heartthrob days in the 80s. The veteran actor visited the show to promote his role in a stage adaptation of the classic series Fawlty Towers.
Known for his role as Gavin Sullivan on EastEnders, Paul has taken on a new challenge, stepping into the character of the bumbling old Major for the stage production. On July 26, 2024, he joined fellow actors and shared his excitement about the new gig.
During his live appearance, fans were stunned at how much Paul had changed. Gone was the icy white hair and stern look from his days in Walford; instead, he sported glasses, and much of his hair was absent. The transformation sparked a flurry of reactions on social media, with many expressing disbelief.
One user on X, formerly Twitter, exclaimed, ‘When did Paul Nicholas get that old?’ while another simply stated, ‘Paul Nicholas wow.’ The comments continued to roll in, with one fan humorously noting, ‘Paul Nicholas’s hair is on the run.’ However, amid the astonishment, someone wisely pointed out, ‘Paul Nicholas will be 80 in December, people do get old ya know.’
Paul’s portrayal of Gavin Sullivan, the biological father of Sharon Watts and ex-husband of Kathy Beale, caught attention during his time on EastEnders from 2015 to 2016. Now, he is excited to bring the spirit of Fawlty Towers back to life on stage.
The iconic Fawlty Towers is set to make its way to the West End, with John Cleese involved as both writer and performer. Joining him on stage will be his daughter, Camilla Cleese. This new production will grace the Apollo Theatre located on Shaftesbury Avenue in London.
Originally airing in the 1970s, Fawlty Towers is based on the stories of real-life hotelier Donald Sinclair. Its foundation built on the bad behavior of its characters, the story revolves around the misadventures of hotel owner Basil Fawlty, played by John Cleese, and his wife Sybil, who was famously portrayed by Prunella Scales.
