Phil Wizard Wins Historic Olympic Breaking Gold
In a thrilling showdown at the Paris Olympics, Canadian dancer Phil Kim, also known as Phil Wizard, claimed the first gold medal in Olympic breaking. His victory came in a decisive final against French dancer Dany Dann.
It was quite a performance; Dann seemed exhausted as he faced Wizard, who dazzled the judges with his blend of technical skills and creativity. Wizard didn’t leave any doubt, securing all three rounds in the final.
Phil’s road to the gold was impressive. He easily dominated the preliminary rounds, even outperforming his competition in the quarter-finals. His biggest test was in the semi-finals against Japan’s Shigekix, the number one seed, but Wizard came out on top, again with a clean sweep of the judges’ votes.
Shigekix, who represented Japan during the Olympics opening ceremony, later faced disappointment, losing to American dancer Victor in the bronze medal match.
Unfortunately for Phil Wizard, he won’t have the chance to defend his Olympic title in 2028, as breaking will not be featured at the Los Angeles Games.
