Philadelphia Marathon 2024

The Philadelphia Marathon Weekend has officially commenced, welcoming around 30,000 runners from local areas and across the globe. The main event, the marathon, will take place on Sunday beginning at 7 a.m. from the Ben Franklin Parkway, while a half marathon and 8K run have been scheduled for Saturday, also starting at 7 a.m.

The city of Philadelphia has announced a series of rolling road closures and parking restrictions starting early Friday morning to accommodate the marathon events. These regulations have been put in place to ensure the safety of participants and spectators, with road closures expected to be lifted gradually as runners pass through and streets are serviced.

City officials have outlined specific «No Parking» regulations, warning that any vehicles on the race routes will be relocated beginning at 2 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Motorists are advised to consider alternate routes while allowing extra travel time and exercising caution throughout the weekend.

Public transportation will also be impacted, with multiple SEPTA bus routes being detoured due to the events. Residents and businesses along the racecourse can expect intermittent local access, while traffic controllers will enable passage through intersections when safe and feasible.

The Health & Fitness Expo associated with the marathon is open during the weekend at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. This event offers an opportunity for participants to collect their race packets and explore merchandise and innovations in fitness and nutrition.

Due to the extensive nature of the event, spectators and motorists are encouraged to utilize public transportation and to familiarize themselves with the alterations, especially around prominent cultural institutions along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
