In anticipation of an eagerly awaited crossover between Philadelphia-bred television series «Abbott Elementary» and «It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,» stars Rob McElhenney and Quinta Brunson have joined forces in support of their hometown NFL team, the Philadelphia Eagles. The duo appeared in a promotional video for NBC‘s «Sunday Night Football,» focusing on their shared allegiance to the Eagles.

Rob McElhenney, known as the creator and star of «It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,» humorously highlighted his feelings as an Eagles fan living in Los Angeles. “Being an Eagles fan in Los Angeles, I mean, of course, you feel like an outsider sometimes,” he said. Fellow Philadelphian, Quinta Brunson, who stars in and created «Abbott Elementary,» shared a similar sentiment, noting, “Being born and raised in Philly, living in LA, you know, you never really forget you’re not from here.”

In the promotion, Brunson appeared dressed in the Eagles’ signature green attire, whereas McElhenney seized the opportunity to joke about California’s perpetual sunny weather, a clear nod to his show’s title. The promotional piece also served to spotlight the Eagles’ current season performance and highlighted players like quarterback Jalen Hurts and running back Saquon Barkley.

As football fans, both McElhenney and Brunson acknowledged the prowess of the Los Angeles Rams, emphasizing the team’s propensity for surprise playoff runs, as seen last season. «The Rams did the same thing last year, started slow like they were playing possum,» Brunson remarked, with McElhenney adding, «next thing you know, they’re in the playoffs.»

The Philadelphia Eagles, currently holding an 8-2 record, were set to face the 5-5 Los Angeles Rams in Week 12 at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The game was scheduled to air at 5:20 p.m. Pacific Time on NBC and Peacock.

This collaborative effort between McElhenney and Brunson in the promotional video comes as audiences gear up for the crossover episodes of «Abbott Elementary» and «It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.» While plot specifics remain under wraps, it is confirmed that «Abbott Elementary» will continue its midseason episodes in January 2025, with «It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia» returning with its 17th season later in the year.
