Vancouver‘s own Philip Kim has danced his way into history at the Paris Summer Olympics, claiming the first-ever gold medal in men’s Olympic breaking.
On Saturday, Kim faced off against France’s Danis Civil in the final battle, and he dominated the contest with an impressive score of 23-4.
Earlier in the day, Kim secured his place in the gold-medal match by defeating Japan‘s Shigeyuki Nakarai. The semifinal battle was closely contested, finishing at 17-10, showing just how hard-fought the competition was.
Both Kim and Nakarai were the top two seeds in the tournament, which made their matchup in the semifinals particularly exciting for fans.
