Philippe Myers Signs One-Year Contract with Toronto Maple Leafs
The New Brunswick native, Philippe Myers, has reached an agreement on a one-year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League (NHL). The 27-year-old right-handed defenseman from Dieppe will earn $775,000 in the upcoming season.
Myers, who was a restricted free agent, tested the free agent market on July 1st. He spent the last two seasons in the Tampa Bay Lightning organization.
During the previous season, Myers only played five games with the Lightning and spent most of his time with the Syracuse Crunch, the AHL affiliate of Tampa Bay.
In his six seasons in the NHL, the defenseman has appeared in 158 games, tallying eight goals and 28 assists for a total of 36 points.
Philippe Myers initially made his mark in the NHL in 2015 with the Philadelphia Flyers before a season with the Nashville Predators in 2021-2022.
He also participated in the 2017 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships.
Notably, Myers was instrumental in helping the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies secure their first President’s Cup in the QMJHL in 2016.
