Pittsburgh Penguins Gear Up for Home Game Against Tampa Bay Lightning
The Pittsburgh Penguins are set to face off against the Tampa Bay Lightning as part of their home stand, with the game scheduled for 7:00 PM at PPG Paints Arena. Doors will open for attendees at 6:00 PM, and the event is supported by UPMC Hillman Cancer Center.
The Penguins, with a record of 7-10-3, host the Lightning, who hold a record of 9-6-1. Pittsburgh has demonstrated strong performance against Tampa Bay in recent history, securing six victories in their last seven matchups with the Lightning and accumulating points in eight of their last ten encounters. At home, the Penguins have points in 17 of their last 20 games against the Lightning since November 12, 2010.
Notable player performances include Michael Bunting, who has a record of three goals, seven assists, and 10 points in 11 games against the Lightning. Tristan Jarry, the Penguins’ goaltender, holds a 6-3-0 record with a 2.45 goals-against average against Tampa Bay. Forward Anthony Beauvillier is on a four-game point streak and aims to extend it to five, having already achieved nine points this season.
Sidney Crosby is on the brink of joining the elite group of NHL players with 600 goals, needing only one more to reach this milestone. Crosby’s achievement would place him alongside Washington’s Alex Ovechkin as the only active players to have reached this feat. Crosby is also nearing other achievements, including surpassing Joe Sakic for the 13th-most assists in NHL history.
Among team achievements, both Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin have consistently excelled against the Lightning, with only Washington’s Alex Ovechkin having a higher goal record against Tampa Bay among active players.
In support of the Hockey Fights Cancer initiative, the Penguins will distribute «Join the Fight» baseball caps to the first 7,500 fans. Special activities are planned throughout the game to honor people affected by cancer, including a Military Salute and a bell-ringing ceremony signifying triumph over the disease. Additionally, mystery autographed pucks and warmup pucks will be sold to raise funds for cancer programs at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
The Penguins are also partaking in the league-wide ‘Movember’ campaign, where players grow mustaches to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer research. Fans can contribute to their favorite player’s fundraising efforts through the Penguins’ site.
