Pittsburgh Weather Update: Rain and Possible Snow Showers Forecasted
The Pittsburgh area is poised for significant weather changes in the coming days, as forecasts predict a mix of rain and potential snow showers. Meteorologists indicate that the region is currently about two-thirds of an inch below the normal rainfall levels for this time of year, but upcoming precipitation may alleviate the deficit.
According to the weather reports, light showers are expected to move into the area overnight, with more significant rainfall anticipated by the afternoon and evening on the following day. A warm front is set to move through the area, which will bring relatively mild temperatures and light rain showers throughout the day, lasting into the evening hours.
«We’ll initially observe mostly cloudy skies with rain showers developing in the afternoon,» a meteorologist explained. «Temperatures will remain warm, around 64 degrees, as the front passes through,» they added.
The scenario changes mid-week, as another frontal system approaches. By Wednesday, more rain showers are expected, driven by a low-pressure system to the north. There are indications that cloud cover will persist throughout the week, with additional rain projected from south to north.
Thursday and Friday could bring a shift in weather patterns, as temperatures are expected to drop, paving the way for potential snow showers. An upper-level low pressure is anticipated to introduce colder air into the region, increasing the likelihood of snowflakes, particularly in Preston, Garrett, and Somerset Counties. «By Thursday night and into Friday morning, temperatures are expected to dip to around 31 degrees in Pittsburgh, which could bring the season’s first snowfall,» weather officials forecasted.
While snow accumulation is not expected to be significant in Pittsburgh, higher elevations north of the city might see some accumulation of snow on the ground. The area’s cold spell is likely to extend into the weekend, with temperatures gradually rising back towards the mid-40s by Sunday.
