The city of Portsmouth is gearing up for this year’s Christmas celebrations with a series of exciting events, including Christmas Lights Switch On Parties, the We Shine Art and Light Festival, Christmas markets, and the return of Portsmouth on Ice. These festivities are set to commence soon, marking the official countdown to Christmas.

The events are sponsored by HSDC and Toob, and will feature a host of attractions. Mark Collins from Greatest Hits Radio will host the Christmas Lights Switch On Parties, which will include appearances by stars from pantomimes such as Lorraine Stanley of Eastenders fame and George Sampson, known for his performance on Britain's Got Talent. Additionally, performances by world streetdance champions FLAWLESS, Portsmouth FC figures including the team’s manager John Mousinho, community group performances, and a special appearance by Father Christmas are on the lineup. Walk-about entertainers and a spectacular finale are also part of the event.

Councillor Steve Pitt, Leader of the council with responsibility for Economic Development, commented, «We have a great lineup of festive events throughout Portsmouth to kick off the Christmas season. I encourage all residents to join in the fun and support our local high street businesses.»

Further details about the programme can be found on the city’s official website.

Meanwhile, similar festive events are being organized on the Isle of Man, with Christmas lights being switched on across the island in several towns.
