Power Outage Forces Abrupt End to 21 Savage Concert in Phoenix
Atlanta-based rapper 21 Savage’s concert at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre in Phoenix on Saturday, May 11, was unexpectedly cut short just moments after he took the stage.
The show, scheduled to begin at 11 p.m., was abruptly halted when a power outage occurred, with the rapper later explaining via social media that the enthusiastic crowd in Phoenix had ‘broken the power’ with a humorous emoji, promising a return in the future.
Following the incident, Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre issued a statement on their social media channels attributing the cancellation to technical difficulties, assuring ticket-holders that refunds would be processed automatically.
A concert attendee, John Shaff, relayed his experience at the disrupted event, describing the surreal moment when all lights went out during the second or third song of 21 Savage’s set, prompting an unexpected halt to the performance.
Shaff noted that the subsequent 15-minute period was met with confusion, as police officers appeared on stage and a message eventually flashed on the video monitors announcing the postponement of the concert, leaving the audience in an oddly calm state despite the unexpected turn of events.
Refunds for the abrupt 21 Savage show were administered promptly the following day, with Shaff’s wife receiving notification from ticket vendor Vivid Seats regarding the credit in her account, affording her the option of future use or a complete refund.
