Premier League Players Arrested in Rape Investigation – Club Denies Involvement
Two young footballers from the Premier League were arrested over the weekend in connection with an alleged rape incident, as reported by the BBC and The Sun sources.
The arrests of the two 19-year-old players took place following a report made to the authorities on Friday, with one man taken into custody on Saturday for aiding and abetting rape, and the other detained on Sunday under suspicion of rape.
According to reports, one of the players was confronted by officers at his team’s football stadium before being arrested later that night. Both individuals, believed to be affiliated with the same club, have now been released on police bail as investigations continue.
A spokesperson for the police confirmed the arrests, stating, ‘A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and aiding and abetting a rape. A second 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape.’
The identities of the players involved have not been disclosed for legal reasons, with the club they belong to refraining from commenting on the ongoing police inquiry.
Despite speculations online, Wolverhampton Wanderers clarified on Twitter that the allegations do not pertain to any individuals associated with the club, asserting their non-involvement in the incident.
