President Cyril Ramaphosa delivered a powerful opening speech at Parliament, outlining the government’s vision for the future of South Africa. The speech was given in the Western Cape, following recent devastating storms and fires in KwaZulu-Natal.

Attended by esteemed dignitaries including former leaders like Thabo Mbeki and Baleka Mbete, the President emphasized the spirit of unity and shared destiny among the diverse people of South Africa.

Ramaphosa highlighted the establishment of a Government of National Unity, comprising ten political parties, aimed at addressing the urgent challenges of poverty, unemployment, and inequality in the country.

The President outlined three key strategic priorities, focusing on driving inclusive growth and job creation, reducing poverty and the high cost of living, and building a capable, ethical, and developmental state.

A major highlight was the commitment to a massive investment in infrastructure, particularly in sectors like renewable energy and digital services, to spur economic growth and create new job opportunities.

Ramaphosa also stressed the importance of cooperation and dialogue, announcing plans for a National Dialogue involving various stakeholders to chart a comprehensive social compact for the nation’s future.

He concluded the speech by calling on all South Africans to work together towards a better, more inclusive future, invoking the spirit of cooperation and resilience that defines the nation.
