In a recent documentary, Prince Harry opened up about his strained relationship with the British royal family. This hour-long special, titled ‘Tabloids on Trial,’ features Harry alongside several celebrities, including Hugh Grant and Charlotte Church, all of whom have faced challenges with the press.

The documentary was aired in the UK on ITV and its streaming service ITVX. During his interview, Harry discussed the impact that his legal battles against the British tabloids have had on his relationship with the Firm, as he referred to his family.

Harry stated that his ongoing fight against the tabloids has significantly contributed to the rift with his family. He expressed that it would have been better if they had fought these battles together, saying, ‘I’ve made it very clear that this is something that needs to be done, it would be nice if we did it as a family.’

These sentiments come after Harry was awarded $180,000 after a lawsuit against Mirror Group Newspapers concerning phone hacking. He revealed that the paranoia and fear stemming from the hacking scandal have been tremendously challenging for him.

He also mentioned that the lack of action from his family regarding issues with the press has left him feeling disheartened. ‘For me, the mission continues, but yes, it’s caused part of a rift,’ he explained in the interview.

This documentary marks Harry’s first in-depth television appearance since his legal and public struggles with the tabloids. It’s evident that his ongoing battle for justice has not only personal implications but also affects his family dynamics.

Earlier this month, Harry was also in Los Angeles to receive the Pat Tillman Award for Service, showcasing his continued public engagement beyond the royal family controversy.
