Public Holiday for Isese Day in Lagos
The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has declared a public holiday for all government employees on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. This day will be set aside to celebrate the 2024 Isese Day.
This announcement came via a circular issued on Monday by Bode Agoro, the state’s Head of Service. The holiday aims to allow traditional religious followers to observe and celebrate their special day.
<pAccording to the circular, all public offices, including the courts, will remain closed on this day, reopening on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 8 a.m.
The circular also emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting traditional institutions and promoting indigenous traditions to preserve cultural heritage.
Isese refers to the Yoruba religion, which includes the spiritual beliefs and practices of the Yoruba people located mostly in Southwestern Nigeria.
