WWE star CM Punk, whose real name is Phil Brooks, has officially joined the cast of the forthcoming horror series ‘Revival,’ according to an exclusive report by Variety. This new venture will see Punk in a recurring role, though details on the character he will portray remain undisclosed at this time.

The series has been developed by the Syfy network and is based on the Image Comics series penned by Tim Seeley and illustrated by Mike Norton. Filming for ‘Revival’ is currently underway in New Brunswick, Canada.

Alongside CM Punk, the series will feature actors Melanie Scrofano, Romy Weltman, David James Elliott, and Andy McQueen. Notably, Steven Ogg, known for his roles in ‘Grand Theft Auto V‘ and ‘The Walking Dead,’ has also been cast.

The storyline of ‘Revival’ is set in rural Wisconsin, where a miraculous event causes the recently deceased to rise from their graves. However, unlike traditional zombie tales, these ‘revived’ individuals behave as they did in life, setting the stage for a complex murder mystery that unfolds in a community fraught with tension and fear. Public safety officer Dana Cypress, portrayed by Scrofano, finds herself at the epicenter of this mystery.

This isn’t CM Punk’s first foray into acting. He has previously appeared in the Starz wrestling drama ‘Heels‘ as Ricky Rabies, the FX series ‘Mayans MC,’ and the horror films ‘The Girl on the Third Floor’ and ‘Jakob’s Wife.’ He is also slated to appear in the upcoming film ‘Night Patrol‘ alongside Jermaine Fowler and Justin Long.

In the realm of professional wrestling, CM Punk is renowned for his tenure with various organizations, including WWE, Ring of Honor, and AEW. After departing WWE in 2014, Punk’s return to the ring with AEW in 2021 was widely publicized. He subsequently returned to WWE in 2023, engaging in a notable storyline with Drew McIntyre.

The television adaptation ‘Revival’ was crafted by Aaron B. Koontz and Luke Boyce, who also serve as executive producers. Additional executive producers include Lance Samuels, Daniel Iron, Samantha Levine, Daniel March, Melanie Scrofano, Greg Hemmings, and Stephen Foster. Production companies Blue Ice Pictures and Hemmings Films are behind the series.
