Quebec Icon Robert Charlebois Hospitalized after Malaise
The iconic Quebecois singer, Robert Charlebois, experienced a sudden malaise that led to his hospitalization on Thursday, prompting the cancellation of his scheduled concert in Joliette. The situation, however, seems stable according to the Centre culturel Desjardins, the venue where the performance was set to take place.
Robert Charlebois, known for his significant contributions to Quebec’s music scene, was unable to perform Thursday night due to the unexpected health issue. The Centre culturel Desjardins posted on Facebook that fortunately, the situation appears to be under control for him.
The specifics of the medical episode Charlebois, 79, experienced have not been disclosed to the public.
The Centre culturel Desjardins will be reaching out to ticket holders of the Thursday evening concert to provide updates on whether the show will be rescheduled or canceled.
Robert Charlebois was also slated to take part in the charity event, Triptyque, on Friday night at the same venue but has had to withdraw. An employee of the Centre culturel Desjardins mentioned, ‘He will definitely need some time to rest. We are working hard to find someone who can replace him.’
The renowned singer is currently on tour with ‘Triptyque’, a show inspired by the works of Réjean Ducharme. The tour includes several dates across Quebec and Europe until December, with a nine-night run at the Théâtre Bobino in Paris from May 29 to June 9.
