Quinton de Kock Sets New Record for Most Runs in a T20 World Cup Edition for South Africa
South African cricketer Quinton de Kock achieved a remarkable milestone during the T20 World Cup 2024 final against India, surpassing the previous record set by legendary player Jacques Kallis. De Kock’s outstanding performance in the tournament catapulted him to the top of the list for the most runs scored by a South African batter in a single T20 World Cup edition.
Jacques Kallis held the record with 238 runs, which he accomplished during the 2009 World Cup held in England. However, De Kock’s exceptional batting skills enabled him to surpass this mark, eventually accumulating a total of 243 runs during the 2024 T20 World Cup.
The list of most runs for South Africa in a single T20 World Cup edition now stands as follows: 1) Quinton de Kock – 243 runs in 2024, 2) Jacques Kallis – 238 runs in 2009, 3) JP Duminy – 187 runs in 2014, 4) AB De Villiers – 186 runs in 2009, 5) Hashim Amla – 185 runs in 2014.
