Renowned South African rapper Da Les, whose real name is Leslie Jonathan Mampe Jr., is currently recovering in the hospital after suffering a stroke on Friday, July 26, 2024. His family shared the news in a heartfelt statement on Sunday, giving fans a glimpse of his condition.

The Mampe family expressed their deep sadness over the situation, noting that Da Les was rushed to the hospital after the incident at home. They confirmed that he is in stable condition, although the road to recovery will take time.

“This remains a challenging time for his loved ones,” the family stated, urging the public to keep him in their thoughts and prayers. They promised to provide updates on his health as they become available.

Interestingly, Friday was also Da Les’ 39th birthday. He had plans for a celebration that evening, but a last-minute cancellation was posted on his Instagram, leaving fans concerned.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, Da Les will unfortunately not be in attendance at his birthday celebration this evening. Thanks for understanding,” the Instagram post mentioned.

Da Les first gained fame as part of the hip hop group Jozi, alongside other talented artists. Over the years, he has built a successful solo career, partnering with famous artists like the late AKA and Riky Rick, as well as collaborating on popular hits with JR, DJ Speedsta, Burna Boy, Kid X, DJ Milkshake, Gemini Major, and Nadia Nakai.

In addition to his musical achievements, he is also known for hosting exclusive pool parties and appearing on reality shows like Love and Hip Hop South Africa. His latest album, titled 313, was released last November, adding to his impressive body of work.
