Ravi Bishnoi Shines Despite Injuries in First T20 Against Sri Lanka
India has kicked off its tour of Sri Lanka with a bang! In the first T20 match held on Saturday, July 28, India triumphed with a solid victory, defeating the host team by 43 runs.
Batting first after losing the toss, Team India put up an impressive score of 213 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their 20 overs. The openers set the stage with some explosive performances, as Yashasvi Jaiswal score a swift 40 runs off just 21 balls, while Shubman Gill contributed 34 runs in 16 balls.
Suryakumar Yadav took center stage with a captain’s knock, scoring a phenomenal 58 runs off 26 balls. Rishabh Pant also made his mark with an aggressive 49 runs from 33 balls, helping India to reach a massive total.
Chasing down the hefty target, the Sri Lankan team struggled, managing only 170 runs in 19.2 overs. For India, both Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel picked up two wickets each, while Ryan Parag emerged as the star bowler, claiming three wickets to dismantle the Sri Lankan batting order.
However, the highlight of the match was an unfortunate incident involving India’s young leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi. During the 16th over of Sri Lanka’s innings, while attempting to take a catch off a return from batter Kamindu Mendis, Bishnoi miscalculated and fell hard, leading to a painful blow to his face.
Despite the injury, which left him with a cut on his cheek and some bleeding, Bishnoi shocked everyone by continuing to bowl. Many expected him to head to the dressing room for treatment, but he persevered, even taking the wicket of Charith Asalanka in the same over!
In total, Ravi Bishnoi bowled 4 overs, conceding 37 runs and taking 1 wicket. His determination and dedication to the game have garnered widespread praise, as fans are in awe of his commitment to playing through the pain.
This incident has even sparked comparisons to the legendary Anil Kumble, who famously bowled despite suffering a head injury during a Test match against the West Indies back in 2002. Fans are hopeful that Bishnoi can follow in Kumble’s footsteps and build an impressive career in cricket.
