RCB Clinches Victory Against DC in IPL Match, Keeps Playoff Hopes Alive

In a thrilling encounter at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Royal Challengers Bangalore secured a remarkable victory over Delhi Capitals by 47 runs in the 62nd match of IPL 2024. This win marks RCB’s fifth consecutive victory, keeping their hopes alive for the playoffs. With six wins and seven losses in thirteen matches, RCB has amassed a total of 12 points so far in the league.

On the other hand, Delhi Capitals, who are also currently at 12 points after 13 matches, will need to secure a victory against Lucknow Super Giants on May 14th to ensure progression to the playoffs. The match between Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings on May 18th will be crucial for RCB as their fate will rely on the results of other teams as well.

In the first innings, Bangalore posted a competitive total of 187 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their stipulated 20 overs. Axar Patel, with a quickfire 52 runs off 32 deliveries, and Will Jacks, who scored 41 runs off 29 balls, were the top scorers for RCB. Skipper Virat Kohli also chipped in with 27 runs.

Chasing the target, Delhi Capitals struggled to find momentum and were restricted to 140 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 19.1 overs. Stand-in captain Axar Patel was the top performer for Delhi, scoring 57 runs off 39 balls. Yash Dayal claimed three wickets, while Lokesh Ferguson picked up two crucial wickets for RCB.
