Reddit Experiences Major Outage Leaving Users in Limbo
Reddit users were left in a state of frustration today as the popular social media platform experienced a significant outage, rendering the site inaccessible to many.
Attempting to access Reddit’s homepage greeted users with an error message stating, ‘Oops, something went wrong, please try again later,’ resulting in the inability to view posts or engage with communities.
Reports from users indicated that the issues extended to both the website and mobile app, indicating a widespread disruption across platforms.
DownDetector, a service that tracks online service outages, recorded a notable surge in reports regarding Reddit problems around 12:21 PM ET, with a concentration of issues reported in major urban centers in Canada.
According to Reddit’s status page, the platform acknowledged that a backend problem was impacting numerous users and assured them that the issue was being investigated and addressed.
Prior to today’s extensive outage, Reddit had already encountered challenges earlier in the day, resolving a separate issue around 12 PM ET before the subsequent major disruption occurred.
Following the outage, Reddit users were relieved to see the platform back online, allowing them to resume normal activity on the social media site.
