The radio broadcasting community is mourning the tragic loss of Véronique Lévesque, the vibrant host from Rythme FM in Mauricie. The sad news was shared by her co-host Karl Blanchard during their morning show, where he revealed the heartbreaking circumstances surrounding Véronique’s passing.

On April 3rd, after completing her show, Véronique suffered a brain aneurysm and was subsequently placed in a medically induced coma. Despite the efforts to save her, Véronique, aged 29, passed away on a Saturday afternoon after a 17-day battle. She was expecting a child, and doctors performed an emergency C-section to deliver her baby girl prematurely.

In a statement to Cogeco employees, Christine Dicaire, the Senior Director of Communications and Marketing, urged solidarity in the face of this devastating loss. Véronique had been a valued member of the morning show for approximately two years, leaving a profound impact on her colleagues and listeners.

The Fédération professionnelle des journalistes du Québec (FPJQ) in Mauricie-Centre-du-Québec paid tribute to Véronique in a press release, highlighting her energy, positivity, and talent as a broadcaster. Colleagues and friends, including Alexis Samson from 106.9 Mauricie, shared heartfelt tributes, emphasizing the void left by Véronique’s untimely departure.
