Renowned Quebec Actor Benoît Dagenais Passes Away at 71
The Quebec entertainment industry is mourning the loss of esteemed actor Benoît Dagenais, who passed away suddenly on June 27 at the age of 71, as confirmed by the Agence Eugénie Guillard. Dagenais, known for his roles in popular Quebec TV series like Watatatow, Fortier, and 30 vies, left a lasting impact on the local acting scene.
Having graduated from the Conservatoire d’art dramatique de Montréal in 1977, Dagenais later became a director at the institution in 2012, after teaching there starting from 1993. His contribution to theater was immense, having taken part in over 80 productions including Après la chute, Pop-corn, and Lorenzaccio.
While theater was his passion, Benoît Dagenais also gained recognition on television with roles in popular series such as Montréal P.Q., Les Bougon, and Toute la vérité, captivating audiences with his versatile acting skills.
His talent wasn’t limited to the small screen, as Dagenais also showcased his acting prowess in films like 15 février 1839 and Nouvelle-France, leaving a mark in Quebec’s cinematic landscape.
Benoît Dagenais is survived by his partner Anne-Marie Provencher and daughter Ève Provencher-Dagenais, as the industry remembers him for his outstanding contributions to Quebec’s cultural scene.
