Rescued Students Reunited with Families in Kaduna After Kidnapping Ordeal

The Kaduna State Government in Nigeria received 137 rescued abducted students from Government Secondary School, Chikun Local Government Area. The students arrived at Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House amidst tight security.

Parents of the children were absent during the ceremony, as the schoolkids were then taken to the Women and Children Shelter for psychosocial therapy before reuniting with their families. Six students were hospitalized at Dallet Barracks, Kawo.

Presenting the students to Governor Uba Sani, GOC 1 Div, Maj. Gen. Mayirenso Saraso mentioned the successful rescue of the kids who spent 16 days in captivity.

Governor Sani emphasized the importance of the rescued children being unharmed, cautioning against misinformation about the rescue. Security is a top priority, with gratitude to those involved including President Bola Tinubu and NSA Nuhu Ribadu.

The media was warned against false insinuations, as Governor Sani emphasized the need to respect security efforts. The state’s commitment to security for all LGAs and communities was reiterated.

Meanwhile, CNN reports 137 school children were released after being kidnapped earlier in Kaduna. The governor confirmed their release during a TV interview, with one teacher passing away due to complications in captivity. Kaduna state has witnessed several abductions in recent years.

The children will continue receiving medical and psychological support, following the ransom demand of 1 billion naira. National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu coordinated the security operations that led to the successful outcome.

President Bola Tinubu’s efforts for the children’s safe return were also acknowledged. The media outlet Channels Television also covered the story.
