Residents Report Possible Meteorite Sighting in the Eastern Cape
Eastern Cape residents are reporting numerous sightings of what they believe to be a meteorite crossing the sky on Sunday morning.
People from several towns, including Gqeberha, St. Francis Bay, and areas in the Langkloof as far as Sedgefield, observed bright lights and heard loud thundering noises that rattled the ground.
Reports came in about a possible earthquake that caused alarm among residents in the Langkloof region, waking many in the middle of the night.
Local weather expert, Garth Sampson, also known as Weather Guru, has confirmed that there are no recorded earthquakes near the region, indicating that the reported seismic activity was likely due to the meteorite sighting.
Comments concerning the phenomenon have flooded social media platforms, with local residents sharing their experiences and observations across various channels.
