Return to School in Kindersley Marks the Start of a New Academic Year
Students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in west-central Saskatchewan returned to class on Tuesday, marking the end of summer for many families.
In Kindersley, three different schools—Westberry Elementary School, Elizabeth Middle School, and Kindersley Composite School—held their respective back-to-school days.
Kindersley Jr. Klippers were present at Elizabeth Middle School to greet the students as they arrived for their first day, offering fist bumps to encourage a positive start.
Elizabeth Middle School’s vice-principal, Cam Aitken, welcomed students outside the school. To ease the transition, students participated in a «backpack day» last week, allowing them to meet their teachers, explore their classrooms, and drop off school supplies.
Aitken expressed the desire to begin the school year on a strong note, emphasizing the importance of sports as a way to engage students right from the beginning. He mentioned that football practices commenced on the first day, with volleyball set to start shortly thereafter, followed by cross country and golf.
At Kindersley Composite School, the new Grade 9 students experienced their first day with a staggered schedule. Rylan Ginther, one of the new students, shared his excitement about starting at a new school, mentioning the anticipation of trying new activities.
The school distinguished between the start times for different grades, with Grade 9 and 10 classes held in the morning and senior students beginning their day in the afternoon.
All local schools operate within the west-central region, catering to the educational needs of the community. Interested individuals can follow the links provided to review the school calendars for the 2024-2025 academic year.
