RFK Jr. Considers Collaboration with Trump Amid Campaign Challenges
Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is currently assessing two potential strategies as his campaign faces significant hurdles. Nicole Shanahan, Kennedy’s running mate, announced on a recent podcast that they are contemplating either joining forces with Donald Trump’s campaign or establishing a new third party.
Shanahan expressed concerns about the implications of their decisions, particularly the risk of a Kamala Harris presidency if they proceed with their third-party efforts. She highlighted that drawing votes away from Trump could inadvertently benefit Democratic candidates.
The financial state of the Kennedy campaign further complicates their position. In July alone, they reported expenditures of $7 million, while only raising $5.6 million, leaving the campaign with a mere $3.9 million in funds and accumulating substantial debt.
Furthermore, Kennedy’s polling numbers have declined sharply, dropping from over 15% support last November to approximately 4.5% in recent surveys. His campaign is also grappling with challenges related to ballot access, with current legal battles in states like New York and Georgia.
During the podcast, Shanahan suggested that they could either abandon the race or align with Trump, stressing that this decision is critical for the future of their campaign and the American electorate.
She also accused the Democratic Party of engaging in actions to sabotage their campaign, claiming that the party has attempted to manipulate polls and limit Kennedy’s visibility as a candidate.
Despite the challenges, Kennedy remains open to discussions with political leaders across party lines. His recent statements indicate a willingness to explore collaborative opportunities to advance their shared goals.
