Rochenda Sandall Takes on Celebrity MasterChef

Rochenda Sandall, best known for her roles in ‘Line of Duty‘ and ‘Doctor Who‘, is ready to show off her cooking skills on the latest season of Celebrity MasterChef. The actress, who hails from Goxhill near Grimsby, will be competing against a mix of celebrities including Team GB sprinter Harry Aikines-Aryeetey and comedian Eshaan Akbar.

Rochenda expressed her excitement about joining the competition, stating, “The reason that I wanted to do Celebrity MasterChef was to compete. Cooking is something I love to do at home.” She added that she’s a self-taught cook and was eager to discover her abilities in the kitchen.

Originally, the actress had her first taste of performance at Baysgarth School when she participated in the musical production of Sister Act II. This helped launch her career in the TV industry, leading to roles in shows like ‘Doctors’ and ‘Coronation Street’. Her standout role in ‘Line of Duty’ as Lisa McQueen brought her significant recognition.

Rochenda mentioned that the process of filming Celebrity MasterChef has been quite the adventure, with plenty of comical mishaps along the way. “I couldn’t stop dropping things,” she admitted, attributing her clumsiness to the adrenaline of the competition.

She also shared about her upbringing, describing her family as a «freezer family» that didn’t have a lot of access to fresh ingredients. Now living in a place with wonderful fresh produce, she finds joy in cooking and appreciates the health benefits it brings.

Interestingly, Rochenda’s participation in the show came about as a surprise. She revealed that her partner had arranged everything without her knowledge, making it even more special for her.

Celebrity MasterChef airs on BBC One and has already featured several contestants showcasing their culinary talents.
