Rosé and Bruno Mars Debut Collaboration at MAMA Awards in Los Angeles
Rosé and Bruno Mars took center stage at the MAMA Awards held in Los Angeles on Thursday night, delivering the debut live performance of their new collaboration «APT.» The highly anticipated appearance saw the duo clad in oversized grey suits, joined by a band and supporting singers as they energized the crowd with their performance.
Following their act, Rosé and Mars were honored with the global sensation award. Rosé expressed gratitude to the audience, saying «I wrote a song based on my favorite drinking game and I had no idea that it would be loved this much. Thank you so much for all our love,» while Mars conveyed his thanks to fans in Korean.
«APT.,» the lead single from Rosé’s upcoming solo album «Rosie,» has been steadily climbing the Billboard charts since its release last month. The track notably reached the No. 1 spot on the Japan song chart, marking the first time a song by a Western act has achieved this in over 11 years. The song also remains at the top of the Billboard 200 and Billboard Global 200 charts for four consecutive weeks.
Rosé, widely known as a member of the K-pop group BLACKPINK, is set to release her solo album «Rosie» on December 6. She described the personal significance of the album, stating, «I have poured my blood and tears into this album. I cannot wait for you to listen to this little journal of mine… With this album, I hope you all feel that much closer to me. And yes, it’s a full-length album.»
The 2024 MAMA Awards, organized by CJ ENM, are among the year’s most prestigious events in the K-pop industry. Besides Los Angeles, the awards will also be held at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan, marking a continued international interest and participation in K-pop ceremonies.
Meanwhile, the 2024 Melon Music Awards will take place on November 30 at Inspire Arena in Incheon. The event is scheduled to feature performances from international artists, including Danish singer Christopher and Japanese musical duo YOASOBI, highlighting the growing global influence and appeal of K-pop.
